False Advertising – Wasted Away
A shower of guitar fuzz, a kick ass beat and a thick bass line like a vein through the song, ‘Wasting Away’ is a breath of fresh air. Manchester’s newest alt gods, False Advertising, feel a little different from all the false idols we’ve seen lately, this is the real deal.
Hinds – Davey Crochett
Hind’s cover The Headcoatees garage track Davey Crochett for their split record day release, with Parrots,. Recorded on the Madrid bands recent trip to the UK and produced by The Vaccines Arni Arnason, it’s a slick simple ditty from the former Deers.
Kendrick Lamar – King Kunta
One of the most talked about releases so far this year, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly” has been hyped to high heavens. King Kunta is a funk infused whirlwind of words and feelings that hit hard and come fast.
Nai Harvest – Out of Time
Sheffield’s Nai Harvest’s epic ‘Out of Time’ flows beautifully though different tempos of fuzz, pop and punk that sounds like the perfect highbredhybrid of east coast surf pop and New York rock.
Hop Along – Waitress
Hop Along’s ‘Get Disowned’ was a ground breaking debut back in 2012 and it’s been a long wait for something to follow it up, but Francis Quinlan and co are back as the Philly folk rock trio fire out this emotional charged, melody packed single that only breathes a whisper of what to expect from the bands second album.
