Who Run The World? Girls, according to Beyonce and Katy Perry did a pretty good job of proving this theory last weekend after absolutely smashing her performance at the NFL Superbowl half time show. But there’s no doubt the music industry has always been male dominated, but this recent resurgence of Girl Power has been helping women rise to the top of the game. America’s sweetheart Taylor Swift has taken the world by storm over the last year joining the likes of Beyonce and Adele as one of the biggest pop stars in the world. And it’s not just on a large scale, even smaller artists like St.Vincent and Jessie Ware who had a great year are leading the way for female artists. We hope this is just the beginning as we take a look at five of the next big names in the music world that are proving that girls do it just as well.
Soko (Bordeaux – France)
When Soko first came around in about 2007 her straightforward lyrics and French accent made her an Indie dream, since then she’s stayed the best-kept secret in music. Her new single, “Who Wears the Pants??” seems to take a different route with a faster pace and a mind altering opening riff that makes the March release the Bordeaux pop stars second album even more exciting.

Eilidh McKellar – (Edinburgh –Scotland)
At just 19 years old Eilidh is already creating a blues-rock sound that rivals the likes of Clapton or Jeff Beck themselves. Guitar in hand, she became a YouTube sensation and is now taking her addictive brand of Rock & Roll on the road with a few shows confirmed in London later this year. With a truly unique voice, the Scottish blues queen has a huge future.

Rae Morris – (Blackpool – England)
With her debut album going straight in at Number 9 in the UK album chart, the girl from the city of lights, Blackpool of course, is following up an impressive 2014, that saw her duet with Bombay Bicycle Club, with what looks to be an exciting new year. Her haunting vocal narrates songs packed with feeling, helping her carve her way through the competition as a stand out prospect of 2015.

SOAK (Derry – Northern Ireland)
Bridie Monds-Watson aka SOAK has been turning heads in Ireland for some time now, her ability to create beautiful acoustic pop songs is mind blowingly seamless . And at such a young age there’s nowhere that SOAK wont be able to go, gaining much critical acclaim and performing a stunning Glastonbury set, 2015 prepare for SOAK.

Ryn Weaver – (California – U.S.A.)
The future pop princess has already been gaining high praise from the likes of Charlie XCX and Paramour’s Haley Williams and listening to her track Octahate it’s easy to understand why. Her ferocious voice blends brilliantly into perfect pop songs to create a sound that’s hard to believe we’ve been doing without all this time.
